Oct 27, 2021

Tires are some of the most important parts on your vehicle. Traveling safely happens in part, by making sure they are in good condition. One of the most important steps in vehicle maintenance is tire care. Just like many things in life, your tires need to have a “check up” on a regular basis.

  1. Check for signs of wear – over inflation, under inflation, tread wear on one edge of the tire, erratic tire wear, raised portion of tread or sidewall
  2. Tire Tread Inspection – Insert a quarter into a tread groove with the top of Washington’s head facing down. If the top of his head is not visible, have at least 4/32” of tread and are fine for continued use
  3. Tire Inflation Inspection – Check your car’s tire pressure at least once a month with a quality gauge
  4. Tire Maintenance – Several tire maintenance procedures are important, including:
  5. Tire Rotation – Tires on the front and the rear of operate and perform different, resulting in unequal wear patterns. Your tires should be rotated typically every 5,000 – 7,000 miles
  6. Tire Balancing – New tires should be balanced after installation, older ones should be balanced whenever a vibration is noticed or whenever a tire is removed from the wheel
  7. Wheel Alignment – Wheel alignment should be checked and adjusted when new tires are installed, and any time when unusual steering characteristics are observed
